This cooling mat has worked really well for my dogs during warmer days and after outdoor activity.I have a Belgian Malinois and a Border Collie, and both naturally gravitate toward it when they want to cool down. The fabric definitely feels cool to the touch without needing water, gel, or refrigeration, which makes it very convenient to use around the house.I like that itās thin and lightweight rather than bulky. It works well inside crates, on top of dog beds, or directly on the floor, and itās easy to move from room to room as needed. The material feels smooth and comfortable, and the non-slip feel helps keep it in place fairly well during use. It also folds up easily for travel or car rides. One thing I appreciate is that it doesnāt feel overly stiff or plasticky like some cooling mats can. It feels much more comfortable and natural for everyday lounging. This is a great option for helping dogs stay comfortable in warm weather, especially for breeds that tend to run hot or after exercise.
I have had numerous cooling mats for my dogs. This is the first of its kind, and I am so grateful that it is different from all the others Iāve ever had.All the others Iāve ever had have been from different manufacturers, but theyāve all had a plastic outer layer, which I thought at the time was great because I could easily wipe them down. However, every single one of them, regardless of where they came from or how much they cost, eventually got moldy, which was so bizarre to me, seeing as I had wiped them downā the last time, I looked closely and It was almost as if the mold was on the inside, and I could see it coming through. I donāt know, but it was gross. So I took a chance when I ordered this, and man, I cannot even begin to tell youāI will never look back at any other brand again!!This is so soft, made of a nice material, and it is ice cold. My dogs love it. And then the cool thing is ( pun intended) , you can flip it over, and the other side is a more plush material you can use in the winter to lock in their body heat. Just amazing how far technology has come. They claim itās made of nontoxic materials, so Iām banking on that. My dogs absolutely love it. I have a West Highland terrier with a thick coat, and she often gets overheated. Sheāll get up in the middle of the night and walk right over to this and lie down on it.š šæ š šæ š šæ š šæ šAmazon Vine: The Unfiltered TruthIām a Vine reviewer. Sytopia Dog Cooling Mat for Extra Large Dogs, Q-Max>0.5 All Season Thin Breathable Cooling Crate Pad Indoor for Pet, Portable Washable & Non-Toxic Kennel Mat for Summer Active Dog, 35x24, Light BlueIt absolutely nails it. The fabric is instantly chilly to the touch, no fridge or water required. My dog plops down after walks and relaxes immediately. Because it's thin and breathable, it doesn't trap his body heat. Big dogs are messy, so this is a lifesaver. I tossed it in the washing machine on a cold, gentle cycle and let it air dry. It came out looking brand new and kept its instant-chill feel. The stitching is solid, the fabric feels premium, and the mesh backing keeps it from sliding around. Just note that it is thin. If your dog loves plush padding youāll want to layer this on top of their regular crate mattress. For the price, itās a steal. XL dog gear is usually insanely expensive, but this is affordable, non-toxic, and folds up to nothing for road trips.
We live in PA where the winters are harsh and the summers are hot. I got this more for the cooler aspect because I have a Golden that just seems to get really hot in the summer. I thought there is no way he will use this, he would much rather lay on the hard patio than this, but it got up to 90 yesterday and would you believe, he chose to lay on this. You can tell the difference in temperature just by touching it. While it is not long enough for him to stretch out on it with his whole body, it fits his torso perfectly. He stretched out and went to sleep for a good while on it. It says it is machine washable and after just a few days of him laying on this it did get quite a few paw prints and stains, so I will be washing it soon. Since we have many more summer days coming, I think he will be able to stay cooler than usual.
Living in the intense Florida heat, finding ways to keep my German Shepherd cool is a constant battle. I was thrilled to try out this cooling mat to give her some relief. Before handing it over to her, I actually decided to test it out myself fresh out of the box by sleeping on it in my bed for a night (the instructions even mention that itās perfectly safe for people to use too!). When you first lie down, it feels wonderfully cold to the touch. However, after about 5 to 10 minutes, the fabric absorbs your body heat. Unless you get up for a few minutesālike a quick bathroom tripāto let the material reset and cool back down, it tends to hold a constant, warm temperature. As far as sizing goes, I was only offered the Large through the Vine program. While it's a decent size, itās a bit tight for a full-sized German Shepherd. If you have a larger breed, the X-Large would definitely be a much better fit to let them fully stretch out.Overall, itās a well-made, lightweight mat that offers nice instant relief, but it works best if your dog likes to shift spots or if it's used in an air-conditioned room where the fabric can recover more quickly.
